I’m getting lax on the blog posts again. Luckily my basic schedule of posting is pretty flexible. I do plan on doing some kind of regular weekly post, but I’ve not nailed down what exactly I’m going to post weekly. I recently tried to take pictures of a figure for a figure review post, but that didn’t go so well. I think I may need a better camera for that.
I’m likely to be pretty lax on blog posts this month, because I SHOULD be writing for NaNoWriMo. Whether I’ll be successful is pretty up in the air, especially as I’m falling far short of the daily goal of 1,667 words. I have around 200 so far, and it’s more summary than story. I have resolved to just try to roll with it so far, after all I might just need that summary around to remember where I’m going with my story. In other updates, I finally finished reading Kushiel’s Mercy. Boy that took a long time to read. I did enjoy but I didn’t really get sucked into the story. It seems more that I finished it out of determination to have it read. I’m now reading the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which I’m finding to be hilarious. It’s entirely too quotable for me.
I’ve also found the anime this season I will be keeping up with: Kimi ni Todoke. The protagonist is a shy girl who scares her classmates with her resemblance to Sadako from the Ring. She’s trying to get to know the people around her and make friends, and as a shy person, she’s hitting all the right buttons with me. I am still that awkward with people. It doesn’t ring as the cliche usually goes of the shy girl suddenly being noticed as cute/gorgeous and becoming popular or that the way she is just disappears conveniently like it’s some kind of disease or something. This last episode, number 4 is particularly wrenching with all the misunderstanding and sadness going on. It’s very rare that anime brings me to tears, and this episode very nearly did. I’m going to be hoping as hard as I can that this gets licensed and brought over to the States. And as a sort of disclaimer: yeah, I watch this fansubbed. I did look for streaming and didn’t find any, so fansubs. I’m going to be picking up the second volume of manga as soon as I get paid this week.
