Well That Figures: Angel Beats Petit Nendoroids set 2

I’m pretty overdue on a new figure post, I think. Luckily I recently received the second set of Angel Beats petit nendoroids. I didn’t order the first set, because I wasn’t interested in any of the characters, but set two had two of my favorites – Yui and Otonashi. Here’s hoping there’s a set three with more of the guys!

I’m pretty impressed with the faces, Kanade’s in particular. It might be hard to see in this picture, but she has a very subtle blush in her cheeks which just adds to the solemnity of her expression.  The details in the clothing are surprising too.  My only complaint is that Yui doesn’t have her little fang.

I’m pretty happy that Yui comes with a guitar, and looks super cute holding it. The guitar is held in her hand, pretty securely.  I moved her from room to room quite a bit with the guitar in her hand, and it hardly fell out at all.  It has a lot of detail for being such a small accessory too.  Yui comes with an extra set of arms for regular poses that don’t involve the guitar, but I really like her with the guitar.  I have a petit nendoroid of Yuki Nagato that has a guitar, and that one I had constant problems keeping hold of, so I’m really glad that Good Smile apparently came up with a new solution for that.

Otonashi is pretty basic. He has alternate arms also.   I thought it was cool that the hand pictured above is supposed to look like it’s in his pocket, but if it gets moved at all it looks pretty weird.

The deluxe figure of this set is definitely Kanade (Tenshi).  For most fans of Angel Beats!, she’s probably the draw of this set.

Kanade comes with a beautiful pair of wings that have a pearly finish.  You can see it a little in the highlights on the wings in the picture above.  Her solemn expression is just beautiful, and she comes with a set of alternate arms with her blades, and an alternate smiling face.  Also the inside of her skirt is painted white, to give the impression of her petticoat.  I’d post a picture, but it’s nearly impossible to get a picture of that without getting her underwear in there too.  I’m not posting underwear shots, that’d just be weird.

It’s a good little set.  I’m personally hoping that since figures have started rolling out for Yuri and Kanade, soon there’ll be more figures of Yui, since she’s a personal favorite.  I’m really hoping for some figures of the guys – Otonashi, Noda, and Hinata specifically, but that seems pretty unlikely.  I was really surprised there was a figure of Otonashi even though he’s technically the main character.
